YIN YOGA In Chinese medicine there is the concept of Yin and Yang, which are opposite and complementary principles in nature. In terms of the human body, Yin represents the stable, connective tissues like the ligaments, tendons, and fascia and Yang represents the changing, more pliable muscles and blood in the body. Yin yoga is beneficial when practiced both alone or when paired with a more yang practice like, vinyasa yoga. In this class you will learn the basic principles of Yin yoga and how to safely practice these longer held poses that will target the deep connective tissues of the body. Each pose is held for about 2-3 minutes, so that beneficial amount of stress is put on the tissue so that your body will respond by strengthening and lengthening it. This class is suitable for ages 12 years and older. (Teens must be accompanied by an adult.) Please remember to bring your own mat and water.
