Mackenzie Byrd

Mackenzie is a Tennessee native, who transplanted to Annapolis, MD in 2019 with her husband who is in the US Navy and two littles. As a military spouse, creating community and fostering friendships is something she cares deeply about.


When she isn’t teaching, she can be found exploring new trails, climbing, and finding ways to get outdoors! She is also involved in a local MOPS chapter and enjoys alllll the yummy Annapolis cuisine. 


She danced competitively for 12 years before going to the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga where she majored in Health & Human Performance. She has worked in facilities such as Workout Anytime & Pure Barre, before finding and falling in love with Turn Up Dance Fitness.

The Turn Up is more than just a dance fitness class; it's a movement. A movement to evolve unapologetically, live loudly, dance ruthlessly. For the other 23 hours of the day, you take care of the world, this hour is yours to let loose and embrace the moment!'


This workout is my therapy, my happy hour! We LET LOOSE in here, get wild, own our light, shout, holler, shake it like crazy! NO COMFORT ZONES ALLOWED! The more you let go the more you subconsciously allow the rest of the class to do the same, and then that energy will come back to you and we'll just be thriving together as a team!

By combining dance elements of fitness (Work, Shake Flex, Slay) you can use this workout as therapy, a release, & a happy hour for that matter, as well as a way to stay active, healthy, and get physical results!
